Tools For Finding Professional Networking Events Near You

Tools For Finding Professional Networking Events Near You

Working from home is great for SO many reasons; flexibility, no commute, better coffee, the list goes on. But there is one thing that working from home is missing, other people! This lack of social interaction can drive you a little crazy if you're not careful. It's important to make sure you are still getting out there in the professional world and talking face-to-face with potential clients and other people in your industry. We put together a little list of places online that you can find networking events near you. So what are you waiting for? Sign up and and get your social engagement on!

Facebook Events - There are more than a few ways to find events via Facebook. Either search the events tab and narrow down by your location, search a relevant topic and look for any happenings near you, or write on the wall of a fan page and get answers from others who are in the know. No matter how you choose to use it, Facebook is a wonderful tool for using social media to get social in real life.

Eventbrite - This is a great one because it almost does the search work for you! The homepage will suggest local events near you if it can read your location. However, if you'd rather not give that information or don't want to make an account, just use the "Find Events" tab and search with keywords of what you're looking for.

MeetUp - MeetUp works pretty similar to Eventbrite, but has a much more streamlined app if you prefer to search on your mobile device. Once you sign up and give MeetUp your location, the Find page will suggest Groups or "Meetups" (events) near you, or just manually search for events you're interested in in another area.

The bottom line: It doesn't matter how you find events, just find them! Get out there, meet with others in your industry and community and keep your sanity when working from home. Social interaction is so important for personal growth!
