Kane Anthony Sherwell is an online business specialist with a passion for entrepreneurial adventures. He runs Work Digital, the business which specialises in getting online businesses the cutting edge.
As a “business architect”, he develops websites, customised databases, mobile applications and clever promotional and marketing strategies. And if that wasn’t enough, he’s also fluent in several languages.
His passion for online businesses has led him to find the most efficient, productive and cost-effective way to get projects done properly, and that means hiring the right virtual assistant for the job.
What were you looking for in a VA?
- Website work
- Project management
- Someone reliable
What inspired you to start hiring virtually?
I was paying $120 to $300 per hour for web work within Australia and I found a similar quality or better of work via outsourcing using virtual assistants. The trick is finding the right staff members for the job.
What were some of the challenges? How did you overcome them?
Finding the right staff and project management. As I said above, testing is the best way to find the right staff. Give them a small 1hr task to complete to test their ability. A lot of outsources ask every little question, so to stop this it comes down to planning and the documents you supply and having these online with a program such as Basecamp is critical.
How has hiring virtually supported your business and you personally?
I’ve been able to expand the services of my company and take on large amounts of projects as I can scale up or down with staff.
If you could do it all over again, what would do differently?
I would have saved a lot of heart ache and time.
