I’m Confident In My VA; She Knows What To Say & When To Say It

Amanda Rose is a passionate and creative PR who helps businesses and individuals realise their potential with clever ideas. She’s pretty dynamic too: when she’s not working hard at being a PR agent and creative professional, she’s a radio presenter at My Business Help on Australian radio station Alive 90.5FM.

Amanda is an all-round commentator on branding, connecting and women in business. She spends her days consulting with MDs and CEOs on branding and PR, and relies on the help of her virtual assistant to handle day-to-day admin activities.

What were you looking for in a VA?

  • Help with administrative tasks
  • Someone who could turn work around quickly
  • Help take work off her plate to get some time back
  • Someone who was very reliable

What's your story?

I spend my days consulting businesses and MD/CEO’s on ideas, branding/PR and my true passion which is connecting them with other businesses, Govt and communities.

When did you start hiring virtual help?

You can’t avoid the need for admin related activities. As there is only 24 hours in a day, I needed to outsource all the things that I knew someone else could do for me.

What were some of the challenges? How did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge is TIME. Not enough of it. Whether it was researching, calling people, following up on things, designing something…all these things take time, time I don’t have.

How has hiring virtually supported your business and you personally?

Outside of all the regular things which include: admin, marketing, research, graphic design….the most important part is that no matter what, I can always call my VA or email/SMS and ask her to “deal with something” and she will. I am absolutely confident that she will handle it exactly how I would and always knows what to say and when to say it.

If you could do it all over again, what would you not do again?

Not set expectations. I have tried other VA’s and it wasn’t their fault, I just didn’t specify exactly what I wanted and ended up disappointed.

Oh and I wouldn’t wait so long next time!
