We know. As a virtual assistant your computer is never too far away. It's your lively hood, your lap-sized office, and sometimes, it's your best friend. As with all devices, over-use can lead to some serious wear and tear. So how do you make sure that your only "co-worker" is running at optimal performance? We came up with a little list of apps that can help you out.
Duplicate Detective (Mac Users): Duplicate files on your computer can seriously slow down your speed. But hunting them down amongst all your other programs can be a real time-suck. Enter Duplicate Detective. This app is available on the app store for Mac users and can be purchased for $2.99 to easily track down and delete your duplicate applications. The interface is simple and it works quick. Find more info here.
CloneZilla (Windows Users) - Backups are a virtual assistants BFF. Clonezilla can make it easy on you. This app for PC's will do a backup of your hard drive and give you total piece of mind if you ever experience a crash. It is also great for file recovery if you ever lose something you didn't mean to lose! Check out Clonezilla here to learn more.
AppZapper (Mac Users) - Be careful installing and forgetting about too many apps. If there are several installed on your Mac that you don't use anymore, they're just taking up precious space on your drive. Consider using an app like AppZapper to uninstall them completely and free that space back up. AppZapper will run you about $12.95, but also gives you 5 un-installs for free. Either way, it's a lot cheaper than going out to buy a new computer because you run out of memory!
DupeGuru (Windows Users) - Similar to Duplicate Detective for Mac above, DupeGuru works with Windows users to track down and delete duplicate files. The program is actually free to use, and works with regular files, music and photos to help you get rid of your extras. You can check out DupeGuru here.
DropIt (Windows or Mac)- This app is like an automated organizer for your computer. Tell the program what you want it to do with certain files, and it will automatically save those files where you have designated. For example, if you want all files ending in .jpeg to go directly to your photos folder, this app can do that - and so much more! Download it here and keep things organized with little to no effort on your end.
